If you want to add some elements of Feng Shui to your home interior design, you don’t have to go to extreme and expensive measures. Infusing the five elements of Feng Shui into your home decor can be functional and simplistic all at once. Here are some ways to incorporate Feng Shui into your interior design.

WOOD

According to principles of Feng Shui, wood represents strength, growth, and flexibility.

Wood Feng Shui items:

  • plants and trees
  • wood furniture
  • cotton or natural fabrics
  • fresh flowers

FIRE

Fire represents boldness, expressiveness, and inspiration.

Fire Feng Shui items:

  • candles and sunlight
  • red colored decor items
  • animal prints

EARTH

Earth emits a feeling of balance, stability, strength and order.

Earth Feng Shui items:

  • Earth tone decor items
  • landscape images
  • square and rectangular shapes

METAL

Metal represents organization, focus, and logic.

Metal Feng Shui items:

  • rocks and stones
  • any metal item (aluminum, steel, silver)
  • white, gray, silver colored items

WATER

The water element of Feng Shui represents inspiration, wisdom, and insightfulness.

Water Feng Shui Items:

  • reflective surfaces (mirrors, glass)
  • water or water features
  • the color black or dark tones
